Our featured poet, José Jiménez (He/Him/His) is a storyteller with a passion for quesadillas, Cumbias, trashy TV, expanding immigrant rights and abolishing institutionalized racism: you know… the basics. His writing includes fond memories of growing up in Michoacan, Mexico, processing microaggressions about race/national origin and calls for all of us (especially our elected officials) to contribute in fixing the broken immigration system. At the core of his writing is the need to expose our differences for what they really are: Strengths. José has featured/read at open mics in Nebraska & California. He is the 2020 Grand Slam Champion for The Loud Mouth Poetry Jam & a finalist at the 2021 inaugural Stonewall International Poetry Slam (SIPS).

Your intrepid, San José-loving emcees, Mighty Mike McGee and Mr. Ato Walker.

San José is not necessarily the place to be on a Monday unless Mondays are your weekend. There is so much happening in our valley nowadays that it’s hard to always know where to go for a good time. Me and my comedic co-pilot Mr. Ato Walker have joined forces with the folks at Tabard Theatre in San Pedro Square to create and host a late-night style variety talk show taped live in front of a live studio audience on the most boring night of the week in the Santa Clara Valley. It will be a “What’s Happening In The Valley This Week.” We taped the experimental “Episode 000” to get an idea of what the show is and needs and we were very pleased to have found a groove we think you will enjoy. We’re also looking for interesting videos to present during the show. Weird, wonderful and wild are the themes. If you have something like that, send it my way: mightymikemcgee at gmail
